Jesus In New York

Its 5pm rush hour in New York City. As I'm walking through the very busy subway station ,heading to the 42nd street shuttle, I couldn't help but notice these two men preaching out loud verses from the bible and holding signs. Catch me a year ago, my thought would be, just another case of the "crazies of New York" but in my new life under God, I just couldn't help but to respond back out loud "AMEN!". Then my brain started analyzing and thinking full speed ahead, leading to
this blog post.

My thoughts. These men were not asking for money, they were not asking for anyone to buy anything, but standing there, excited about a belief they have. As I'm learning more through my bible studies, there is this constant message of spreading the word of God, tell people about what Jesus did for us. Was I witnessing two men putting Jesus's command to his disciples in action. In Matthew 28:18-20 Jesus's last command to his disciples. 18 And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” This is also known as the Great Commission. Do many Christians today realize, this Great Commission was not for the 11 immediate disciples, but for ALL believers. In that time and today.
Seeing these two men holding these signs made me think, how many who say they are Christians actually believe in the words they read in the bible and take some sort of action? How many of us, yes I'm including myself, truly follow Jesus's command to us and truly stand up to the Great Commission, our purpose.
